Nike Streetwear SoHo Store Opening On…

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Originally, the new Nike SoHo store was set to open today, but on a trip to the neighborhood earlier today, we found out the new opening date, August 22. The store still has the “X” on the top window pane and newspapers on the other windows, so we still don’t know what the store looks like…guess we’ll have to wait til the 22nd.

Nike’s new outpost on 21 Mercer St. (between Broome and Grand) is set to open in a formerly empty space we must have seen a dozen times uniquely marked with a “X” on its top window pane (shown above). We always wondered what was to be of this space, and now we know the “X” will likely be replaced with the Nike Swoosh. The Strategic Group (an events PR firm brought to you from the Marquee guys) is going to throw an event prior to the stores’ opening. The store is set to open 8-8-08, the same day the Olympics start and The Lab (a new arts/events space) opens. [Division]

Louis Vuitton Don At It Again

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Peep Kanye’s new LV backpack that took 18 months to make. Being 1 of 1, all you can do is look at it…for now. We’re wondering what he needs a backpack for if he already went to his “Graduation” (3rd album title for all the slow people who didn’t get the joke).

Getting You Ready for The Hamptons’ White Parties

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

White parties have grown in popularity ever since Diddy high publicized his A-List only white party a few years back.  Should you be attending one of these parties this summer out in the Southampton area - we have you covered with some items to complete your outfit.

First up, you’re going to need a shirt - but a regular white dress shirt will make you look bridge & tunnel, so choose one like this instead.  Below is a Hugo Boss linen long sleeve shirt ($175 from Nordstrom.com) with sleeves that are easy to roll up to keep you looking and feeling cool as the party gets hot.

Let’s face it - the white shirt you’ll wear again, maybe at another party in the summer…so invest in a good one like the Boss one above - but for pants, you probably won’t be wearing white linen or white denim pants any time soon (unless you have a second white party), with that being said, look for an inexpensive pair, like these two a.m. linen pants ($59.50 from Nordstrom.com)

Or if you’re feeling like spending a little more and getting a pair of jeans (which you might get more summer use out of than linen pants), go for Seven for All Mankind’s white denim shown below ($163 from Nordstrom.com)

Now you need a pair of kicks.  White sandals could be an option especially if you’re going to be near or on the beach.  If not, go for a pair of white John Varvatos Converses ($95 from zappos.com)

Now your outfit is complete.  Hopefully we helped you in your search for cool white party gear.

Find Your Alter Ego w. Dirty Jax!

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

A few months ago we came across a brand new clothing line called Dirty Jax. We recently found the line @ Michael K in SoHo (where we picked up the shirt featured above). In a recent conversation with the founder of Dirty Jax, Josh Kimerling, we found out more about the brand. Josh was a former nightclub promoter who worked a 9-5 at an ad agency in Manhattan. Sick of the monotony of a 9-5 job, Josh quit and found his alter ego with Dirty Jax. With a shirt that reads “Chronic Bottle Popper,” we can see how Josh’s nightclub promoting days have influenced the line. To look at the rest of the Dirty Jax line and find your alter ego, go to Karmaloop.com. You can also friend request them on Myspace.

Air Max 90 - Reinvented

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

After 18 years, one of Nike’s most successful sneakers, the Air Max 90 is getting a face-lift, so to speak. The new 90s are lighter and more flexible. A mesh toe is the most notable feature on the new kicks from Nike. I hope the Infrareds shown in the picture above (Hypebeast) are really coming out again. We’ll check Niketown tomorrow and do a follow up.

UPDATE #1 - We went to Niketown today - they did not have any new 90s; however, we did read that these will be coming out on 08-08-08.
